What is Halotherapy and Haloasis?
Halo is the Greek word for salt. Halotherapy, also called dry salt therapy, is a practice in which participants breathe in micro-sized particles of dry medical grade salt to aid in respiratory, skin and mental health. We combine the word halo with the word oasis, which is a space that provides a pleasant contrast from our busy daily lives. We feel this name is appropriate because our mobile salt cave is an oasis of sorts in Minnesota’s seasonal climate.
Haloasis is a mobile meditative space that emulates the natural salt caves in Poland and Russia where people have gathered for centuries to alleviate symptoms of asthma, allergies, respiratory problems, anxiety and other ailments.
Man-made salt caves like ours are designed to provide a restful, calming experience in a microclimate that replicates a natural salt mine. Haloasis was designed with a mix of beautiful pink Himalayan salt and reclaimed wood to create a one of a kind therapy space.
Sound and lighting can be adjusted according to your preferences, as can the seating options: Lafuma sling chairs, hammock chairs and benches for lying flat are provided to maximize comfort.
During the session, the salt generator (halogenerator) within the space introduces tiny particles of salt into the air.
